Virginia Anderson Branch transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, April 28, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home in Norfolk, VA. Virginia was born March 5, 1933, in Northampton County, NC, to the late Rufus and Rachel Anderson, who preceded her in death.
She was a faithful member of the Senior Ministry at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Virginia enjoyed her church worship experience. She had a card ministry, sending cards to the sick and shut in, and birthday greetings. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Virginia was employed at Norfolk Public Schools with over 25 years of service.
Virginia was also preceded in death by her sisters: Sally Fennell, Viola Parker, Eliza Dunk and Ella Long; her brothers: Austin Smith and Ned Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 70 years, Woodrow Branch; her daughters: Julia Brown (Karlis, Sr) of Norfolk, VA, Carol Foster (Christopher) of Norfolk, VA, and Anita Branch of Chesapeake, VA; her grandchildren: Karlis Brown, Jr., Marlon Branch, Shanta Brown, Jamel Foster and William Foster; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Her memory will live on in our hearts.

May 6, 2024 at 5:25 pmTo my family: BROKEN CHAIN
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life, we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

May 7, 2024 at 12:39 pmKarlis, Julia and family,
Diane and I are deeply sadden upon hearing the news about the lost of Julia’s mom. Only God, himself, knows when it’s time for our love-ones to join him above! As family should, we stand ready to assist and support! Please remain strong and if there is a need, anything, don’t hesitate to call/text.
May God continue to watch over your family!
Your cousins Ronnie, Diane, Sharon, Casandra, Patrice and Benita.

Please know that each of you are in my prayers. Mrs. Branch was a loving woman, who passed that loving personality to her daughters. I pray that your wonderful cherished memories will comfort you in the days ahead. May God bless each of you and keep you in this care.
