Yateemah F. Myers

Sunrise: September 15, 1979

Sunset: April 30, 2024

Yateemah Friazelle Myers, lovingly called “Teemah”, was born on September 15, 1979, to Brenda Myers and Wayne Hatcher.

Yateemah was born in Newark, New Jersey. She received her formal education from Avon Avenue Elementary and later moved to Virginia, graduating from Lake Taylor High School. After graduating from high school, Teemah joined the United States Army. She was unfortunately injured and returned home before finishing boot camp. Teemah attended Essex Community College in Newark, New Jersey, where she received her CNA and Medical Assistant certification. Teemah then worked various jobs and found her passion in the healthcare field because of her love of helping people.

Teemah loved being a mother more than anything else. She found joy with the sounds of having a house filled with the love of family and close friends. She discovered a love for gardening, and her favorite pastime was being a Facebook investigator. Teemah also enjoyed volunteering and was recently recognized as an honorary success coach with the Next Steps to Success.

Yateemah is survived by her husband, Irvin Blount; her six children: Q’mara, Torren, Yasin, Karismah, Kasim, and Kajuan; her mother, Brenda Myer-Hatcher; her sister, Danielle Hatcher; her nephews: Naim, Jaleem, and Kareem; her grandmother, Friazelle Hinton; as well as host of extended family members and friends.

Yateemah passed away on April 30, 2024. She was predeceased by her father, Wayne Martin Hatcher; her paternal grandparents, Ida Louise Brunson and Wayne Hatcher; and her maternal grandfather, Robert Richardson.

Yateemah touched more hearts than we can imagine. She will truly be missed. But as she always said, “it’s never goodbye, it’s always see you later.”
