Ms. Velma Jean Cook was born May 20, 1947 in Norfolk, VA to the late Charles and Cammie Cook. She was the youngest
of five children; three preceded her in death, Bernard Banks, Charles Cook, and Larry Cook. Ms. Velma received in formal education through the Norfolk Public School System. She had some hardships and dropout. She was determine to finish and she did. She was so strong and motivated she got her G.E.D. and moves forward in her mother Footsteps and enter the world of Nursing. She was such a strong force and believer she fought each day to be better than the day before. Velma looked forward to her date each Sunday morning faithfully with her brother James. He always left her with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She enjoyed and truly loves reading her Bible and watching her favorite football team the “Redskins.” Velma leaves to cherish her memories her five children: Edward L. Cook (Beverly Cook), Glennis L. Cook, Stephen L. Cook, Tracy L. Ballard and Chenier K. Cook; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; numerous of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends, a special dear friend Diane Clark. Velma Jean Cook you will never be forgotten, you will always be in our hearts.
