On July 30, 2023 God called his child, Estella Davis home to gain her heavenly wings. Estella was born in Scotland Neck, North Carolina on November 30, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Blanche Anthony Davis and Ellison Davis. She was known by “Stella Mae” or “Stella” by family and friends. She was raised in Norfolk, Virginia. Being educated in the Norfolk Public School system, she attended Booker T. Washington High School. She had relocated to Philadelphia for some years then later on in life she returned back to Norfolk, Virginia, where she lived in the Campostella and Berkely area. She began her career working at Norfolk State University. Then she began working at Mancon LLC on NOB. She would later become her mother’s caregiver for many years. She loved spending time with the elderly and doing things for others in the community. In 2000 she began working retail at Macy’s. For 14 years she was a retail specialist, until she retired in 2014. She was a member of Welcome Temple Community Church. She was faithful in her attendance until her illness prevented her from continuing to do so. While she was not able to make it to church she listened to the gospel and Christian television. She preceded in death by her brothers: Edward Davis, Charles Davis, Ellison Davis, James Davis, and Horace West; a sister, Susie Davis Jones; a son, Timothy Davis; a nephew, Brenton Davis; aunts, Bertha Bell, Roxy McKinnon, and Ethel Tapper; and an uncle. Jerry Lee Anthony. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a daughter Ruth Davis “Niecey”; a brother, Dennis West; grandsons: Dante Davis, Delvonte Davis, Keon Davis, and Andre Parker; a granddaughter, Denisha Davis; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

August 5, 2023 at 4:46 pmI’ll make an effort not to cry since I know you’re at peace in paradise. Just your affection, thoughtful actions, smile, and gentle love I will miss. Even if the rest of the world would soon forget you, I will continue to be the excellent granddaughter you raised me to be and I will never forget you.

August 8, 2023 at 6:10 pmAww Ms. Ruth, I know how much you love your momma. I know how much she love you too. I really had hoped to see her again. I grew to love her and treated her as if she were my grandma. I thank you for your appreciation! I was happy to be there taking care of your beautiful mom! She will continue to be missed but I know that she is in a better place and no longer suffering. Please let me know if there is anything I can do Ms. Ruth and thank you so much for your kindness towards me. 🫶
