April 30, 2024 at 11:15 amDarby Family,
It is with the humblest of hearts that I offer my deepest condolences to you and yours during this time of immense sorrow. Please know that Vince touched so many lives through his sharing of the Word, his laughter, and his leadership. The way he cared for the students at his school and uplifted others during their times of challenge was a true blessing. I am so grateful that I was blessed to get to know this dynamic leader during his time in Virginia Beach City Public Schools. I pray for the comfort and peace of the Darby family.

April 30, 2024 at 3:07 pmTo Mrs. Marvette Darby and Family. Sending our most heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences at this time. Mr. Darby touched so many lives and we are the better for it! It brings to mind Luke 2:52, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man.” I observed this when we served as colleagues at St. Helena Elementary School. He had favor with God, because he was bold in his committment to his family and church. He had favor with man, whether it was with the many students he instructed and mentored or if it was teaching the Word of God in Sunday school. We are blessed that our paths crossed. With deepest sympathy, Pastor James E. Gilmore Sr. and Co-Pastor Gayle M. Gilmore

May 2, 2024 at 1:20 pmMarvette Darby,
Extending my deepest heartfelt condolences to you, during this time of a precious loss and bereavement. Throughout my years in Norfolk Public Schools, it was indeed a pleasure to work with Mr. Darby. He left a profound indelible mark of love, kindness, respect and spiritual support in the lives of many. He resolutely “Made a Difference” with his colleagues, teachers, students, parents, and friends. His enthusiasm for education was highly contagious.
Reflecting on the scripture at John 5:28-29 Jesus said, “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming, in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…”. What an awesome prospect for those who have fallen asleep in death. May Jehovah God’s word and holy spirit bring you much comfort and inner peace. My sympathy and prayers are with you and your family. (Revelation 21:3-5)

In your time of grief, put a 😊on your face and think of the🤣🤣🤣 and good times you all shared when Vince was physically in your present. I met and knew Vince from Norfolk Schools. He was a people’s person and always had positive things to say. Vince will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He left his footprints in the sand of Norfolk, VB, Richmond and in his home.

May 2, 2024 at 9:00 pmI had the pleasure of working with Mr. Darby at Ingleside Elementary (Norfolk Public Schools) and Seatack Elementary (Virginia Beach City Public Schools). He was always kind, caring, positive, and genuine. He was also calm and super cool! He loved what he did and he loved the students, families, staff, and communities. He walked in each day with a smile and positive word for everyone. He let God’s light shine through him. Mr. Darby made a difference and he made an impact on everyone he encountered. I’m grateful and thankful for the support and encouragement he gave me. I will forever cherish the memories of a great man! Well done, Mr. Darby! Please accept my deepest sympathy for the passing of your loved one, Mr. Vincent M. Darby. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate this difficult time-and I am wishing you healing. I met Mr. Darby on the very first day I entered St. Helena Elementary School as principal. He greeted me with an infectious smile and offered to do whatever was needed to help in my new position. At that time, I immediately knew his heart was dedicated to education and making a difference. The offer remained throughout his tenure as he and the staff worked to turn the school around and thus receive many outstanding awards and recognitions. Mr. Darby also made a tremendous difference in so many lives of the youth he taught. His words were always calming and thought provoking as he led the children to achieve and believe in their future. He will always be remembered as a great role model, teacher, and later administrator in Norfolk Public Schools. May he rest in peace and job well done. Prayerfully!

May 3, 2024 at 1:20 pmLet me take this moment to give my deepest sympathy to the Darby family. Mr. Darby played a major part in my life as a mentor when I attended St.Helena Elementary school around year 96-98. I learned so much from him. This one hit home for my family because we all was so close to him when I was young. We use to have some fun times as kids riding on the back of his grey pick-up truck riding around the school parking… lol….. I can go on for days about stories with him in it. You will be missed for sure man that’s for sure. -David “Dk” Parham

May 3, 2024 at 7:28 pmTo the Darby Family:
Our love, prayers, and thoughts are with you in this season. May you experience the divine peace and comfort of the Holy Spirit. May you be encouraged knowing God does all thing well and that we will understand it better by and by. Vincent Darby stood by my brother Barrington Cromuel during his battle with cancer. Vincent was like the wind beneath Barry’s wings right up to Barry’s transition. I believe with all of my heart they have both gone on to receive their heavenly rewards. Vincent represented as a beautiful man of God who went about doing good and bringing joy and hope to others.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or my mother, Ida Cromuel, if there is anything we can do to support you in the coming days. You are in our prayers.

May 3, 2024 at 11:21 pmTo the Family of the Late Elder Vincent M. Darby
I was saddened to hear of the loss of Mr. Vincent Darby. I first met his acquaintance during his tenure as Principal of Reid Elementary School in Richmond, Virginia. To say that he was much loved by his staff, parents, and students is an understatement. They expressed their appreciation to him and for him in sundry ways. As a former supervisor and associate, we talked at length about his career change and how much he enjoyed serving his students and staff. Mr. Darby was s source of inspiration, tenacity, and strength. His years of service will forever be etched in our hearts. I will continue to keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.
