Rudolph Johnson, Jr.

Our beloved Rudolph Johnson Jr. (Rudy), departed this life on September 2, 2023. He was born October 24, 1960, to Rudolph Johnson Sr. and Ethel C. Johnson, both pre-deceased. He is also pre-deceased by his sister, Wanda R. Smith and his nephew Antoine Smith. Rudy believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. He recently re-confirmed his salvation before the Reverend Juanita C.B. Davis.

Rudolph attended Norfolk Public Schools and had the ability to do all things. He was a hard worker and provider. He worked in several fields: forklifting, construction, and lawn care were just a few of his talents. He retired from working this year and began enjoying his time off with family and friends. There were times when Rudy would grab his bible and grab you too, so he could have a sit down talk about God’s Word. His heart’s passion was rocking on the microphone as a Master DJ. He loved playing music to get everyone up and dancing. He enjoyed the beach, sitting under an umbrella, and throwing something on the grill.

As a dad, Rudy was awesome at being great, and he was a phenomenal granddad! He made himself available for his children and was a humble listener towards them. He left one wish in that all his children and grandchildren stay close for life. Rudy was full of fun and laughter; he could make the best out of any situation. Even during the end of his time with us, he was still being comical.

Rudy leaves behind his lifelong companion, Valerie Rogers and their daughter and son, Iesha Spencer (Roger) and Rudolph Johnson III, along with his oldest son and oldest daughter, Mark Perry and Narkita Perry (Mother, Donna Perry – Predeceased). Rudy has five grandchildren: Mark Perry Mitchell, Hennessy Perry, Chrishana Perry, Travis Evans, Alexander White, Jr. (Turtle-Man), and Romyia Spencer. He also leaves behind his siblings: Felecia M. Johnson-Smith (Michael), Malcolm G. Johnson (Regina), and Katinka D. Johnson, along with a host of Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and special friends.
