Matthew Reid, Jr.

Matthew Reid, Jr. answered the call to his eternal rest while surrounded by his loving family on October 24, 2023.  Matt was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on April 26, 1961 to the late Matthew and Frances Reid.

Matt was educated in the Portsmouth Public Schools and was a graduate of Tidewater Building Association, Chesapeake, VA.  He excelled in learning all the building trades.  Matt became very proficient in ship fitting and went on to work at Metro Machine Company for a number of years before relocating to Lima, Ohio.

Matt was predeceased  by his brother, Marc E. Reid.

Matt never married but leaves to cherish his memories; two sisters, Pamela Champ (Ray) of Portsmouth, VA and Phyllis Henderson of Lima, Ohio.  He loved his nephews; Joseph Gomez of Woodbridge VA, Jonathan Raynido Champ of  Houston, Texas, Justin Champ of Portsmouth, VA, Steven Reid of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Julian Davis of Fort Lauderdale, FL and David Henderson of Michigan; nieces, Felicia R. Henderson of Columbus, Ohio and Ashley D. Reid of Fort Lauderdale, FL.  A  host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and an extended family of friends and former co-workers.
