Leonard Charles Moore

Leonard Charles Moore was born on August 26, 1959 to his parents, Isaac and Hattie Moore in Brooklyn, NY.  In 1977, Leonard graduated from Aviation high School in Long Island City, NY and joined the U. S Navy the same year.  He served in the Navy onboard the USS RECOVERY, USS FAIRFAX COUNTY, USS SHENANDOAH, and SIMA (Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity) Portsmouth and Naval Station Norfolk.   In 1998, Leonard retired from the Navy as Machinery Repairman First Class.  Upon retirement, Leonard worked for several different companies doing computer work until he found his passion as Lead Network Support Technician at James City County Schools in Williamsburg, VA.  He obtained certification as a Certified Network Professional in 2005 from ESI (Electronic Services Inc).  He retired in 2008 due to health reasons.  Leonard was a political and history enthusiast, an avid sports fan of all teams, and a life mentors to many.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Hattie Moore and his brother, Darryl Moore, Sr. On September 16, 2017, Leonard married the love of his life, Lorraine Elizabeth Anderson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Dr. Lorraine E. Corry-Moore, Suffolk, VA, daughter, Shanon Sumler-Moore, Richmond, VA; step-daughter, Shanara Winans, Atlanta, GA;  step-sons, Anthony Hyman, Jr., (Jackie) Arlington, VA, and Alan Hyman, Suffolk, VA;  brother, Ervin Moore (Diane) Allentown, PA;  sisters-in law, Cleanne Moore, Brooklyn, NY, Evangelist Linda Holloman (Raleigh), Pamela Williams, Robin Lampkin (Robert) Gladys Queen of Norfolk, VA; Crystal Dingle (Roosevelt) of Portsmouth, VA; Princes Jackson Virginia Beach, VA, Ruthie Murray of Philadelphia, PA; nieces:  Hope Broderick (Stanley),  Danielle Holcomb, Brooklyn, NY, Dawn Holcomb of Bronx, NY; nephews, Musa Moore, Ismail Moore, and Ibrahim Moore, Brooklyn, NY, Darryl Moore, Jr. (Tammy ) Queens, NY.  Special cousins:  Mrs. Vivian Rapley and Joseph Rapley (Sharon) Charlotte, NC, and Ms. Teresa Chin, Fort Lauderdale, FL;  Special Family Caregivers (nieces and nephews ) Barnell Filhiol Sr. (Esther),  Barnell  Filhiol, Jr., Norfolk, VA, Brittany Filhiol-Jackson (Aramis), Virginia Beach, VA and a host of family and friends.
