Helena W. Joyner slipped quietly and peacefully into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father early Thursday morning, June 29, 2023 at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Chesapeake, Virginia. Helena was born December 2, 1931 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Mattie Williams and John Edmonds, Sr. She was preceded in death by brothers, John Edmonds, Jr., Raymond Edmonds; son-in-law, Eugene W. Colbert. Helena accepted the Lord at an early age. She was a former member of First Baptist Church South Hill. She later joined Bethany Baptist Church, Chesapeake, Virginia. She was educated in the Norfolk County School System and graduated from Providence School. Helena was formerly employed by Navy Air Station Galley Services and DePaul Medical Center. Helena was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Helena had a warm kind-hearted spirit, a loving smile, and was very caring to her family and dear friends. Helena leaves to cherish her memories; her husband, Joseph Joyner; daughter, Bernice W. Colbert; son, Donald Williams; step daughter, Lisa Joyner; four grandchildren, nephew, and a host of nieces , cousins, and dear friends. We will forever love her and treasure our many happy memories. What a blessing to have had Helena’s love for so long. WE LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!
