Carroll R. Evans

Sunrise: December 31, 1952

Sunset: October 28, 2020

Carroll ‘DeeDee Slim’ Evans, 67 of Norfolk, VA was granted his angel wings on October 28, 2020. He was born December 31, 1952 to the late Carroll H. Evans and Erma M. Evans. After relocating to Quantico, he continued employment as a skilled shipyard worker of many trades. He retired after 35 years of faithful service to the federal government in 2017. He worked at the Marine Corps Base Quantico, Norfolk Naval Shipyard as well as Portsmouth Naval Base. As a family, we knew exactly who to call when we needed our cars fixed; the family mechanic! He never gave up until he figured out what was wrong with the vehicle and taught most of us basic car maintenance. Besides being a dedicated worker, DeeDee loved to ride his motorcycle. He was a member of the Screaming Eagles MC Hampton Roads, VA, where he would ride along the east coast. He also enjoyed fishing, the Dallas Cowboys football team and being the comedian of the family, with a smile that would light up the room. DeeDee was a caring person who would do what he could to help others.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Cynthia V. Taylor and grand-daughter, Shanice Colon. Left to cherish his memory and to embrace his legacy are his children:  Stephanie Colon, Tridarrell Reap, Tia Ricks, Jacorey Hall; his children who he raised: Azar Malik, Robin Vaughan, Tammy Waddell and Abdullah Vaughan; sisters: Sharon V. Evans and Janice Evans; grand-children: Tony, Javon, J-Quan, Ti’Arie, Terrell Jr., Teriq, Jerquita, Keyon, Daizia, Dominique, Monique, Shawn, Breonna, Abdullah, Amir, Azaria and Gia; special in his heart: a niece; Sharonda Wilson (Paul), Lesteen Vaughan and Inez Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and relatives. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him
