Winfield A. Courtlandt was born in Jamaica Queens, on November 16, 1945, to Winfield DeMunn and Harryette (Courtlandt) Carlson. Winfield attended Queens Community College and pursued a career with the New York Telephone Company as a Field Technician. Upon retirement, Winfield relocated to Norfolk Virginia where he pursued a new career, managing several Murry Steaks. Winfield was also a lover of music. His vinyl collection held the classics. The Stylistics, Earth Wind & Fire, The Whispers and The Spinners were a few of his favorites.
Winfield gave his life to Christ in 1994. He served as a Church Trustee and Teacher, facilitating both Sunday School and Bible Study. Winfield was a historian. He enjoyed researching the Biblical history of his lessons, spending countless hours preparing to teach Bible Study and Sunday School. He could be found on Thursday evenings conducting Bible Study for the seniors at Calvary Towers.
On August 21, 2010, Winfield was ordained a Deacon at Trinity United Church of Christ under the Pastorate of Pastor Charles Curry. He enjoyed his work in ministry there.

December 11, 2021 at 2:03 pmDeacon Courtlandt…what can I say. He was good mentor concerning biblical history and practical application. His Bible studies were informative and the folks at Calvary Towers really enjoyed and looked forward to his Thursday night teachings.
He helped me out a couple of times when I was experiencing a bumpy road and was impressive with his presence and great deep voice.
I’ll miss you, my Brother! Wished we had talked more often. I trust and believe your legacy will leave a strong positive imprint on the lives of many as it has me.
Rest beside the still waters in those green pastures, Deacon.
