Shawan Lynette “Cookie” Corprew entered this earthly life on October 19, 1971. She was born to Robert Todd and Vynell Mellerson. She transitioned from this life to eternal rest on April 1, 2024.
Shawan was educated in Chesapeake Public Schools and a graduate of Deep Creek High School. She furthered her education at Tidewater Community College where she earned an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. She was employed in various careers, including a teacher. She continued to be active working in her church, community and supporting her family and friends. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo with her sister, Sharetta and friends. Her greatest love of all was her grandsons and being a grandmother.
She was raised in the admonition of the Lord at Zion Bethel United Church of Christ where she was a faithful member of several ministries including the #3 Usher Board, Voices of Praise Choir, and the Social Service Ministry. She continued in faithful Christian service as a partner of The Mount Chesapeake where she served in the Children’s Ministry.
Shawan is predeceased in death by her father, Robert L. Todd and her son, Da’Jon L. Todd. Remaining to cherish her memory is her husband of over 30 years, Ossia Corprew, Jr; her daughter, ShaniQuia R. Todd; her daughter-in-law, Shanna Todd; her grandsons, Bryson Todd, Brycere Todd, and Jrue Jarrett; her mother, Vynell Mellerson Holloway, her brothers, Robert Elliott (TaMeisha), Andre Todd, Mohamed Amine (Saleema), Adam Todd, and Anas Todd; her sisters, Sharetta Todd, Lateshia Clark (Darryl), and Katrina Carrington (Damien); and a host of other family and friends.
