Rickey Thomas

Sunrise: May 29, 1958

Sunset: August 14, 2023

Mr. Rickey Thomas, 65, of Chesapeake, VA, entered eternal rest on August 14, 2023. He was born on May 29, 1958, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Juanita Thomas and Percy Anderson of Portsmouth, Virginia. Rick, or Tallman, as he was affectionately known as to many, attended Portsmouth Public Schools. But to his family, he was our Rickey. Although he did not possess the formal education of an engineer, he was ours and the community in which he dwelt and surrounding areas. His God given talents from construction lead his to be a meticulous gift person in the industry. Rickey was an outstanding cement finisher, carpenter, plumber, electrician, roofer, painter, hardwood floor installer, and gardener/lawn care. He enjoyed the work in fact, two days before leaving us; we can add repairer of small equipment as to repaired a lawnmower and a weed eater! Rickey loved interacting and having pure fun with family and friends with jokes continuously, nonstop. He was kind, generous and would give you the shirt off his back; yet, he possessed character and integrity with a moral compass. He was a great cook. too. Through all of shortcomings, he never once complained. Rickey will be sorely missed and will always remembered for his love, dedication and commitment and his warm and generous spirit. He is survived by his son, Donta Elliott; his siblings: two sisters, Vanessa Thomas and Michelle Thomas Marshall both of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Bert Thomas and his wife, Teresa Thomas, a devoted sister-in-love of Newport News, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
