On May 16, 2022, Norman Lester Warren, Jr., 53, (affectionately known as Nukie) a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin departed from this life to his eternal resting place.

Norman was born on July 28, 1968 in Norfolk, VA to Marie Dailey Warren and the late Norman Lester Warren, Sr.  He was educated in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach Public School Systems, and graduated from Green Run High School (Virginia Beach, VA) in 1986.  Upon graduation, Norman attended Virginia State University before deciding upon a career in the United States Air Force, where he served as a Fireman.   After his time in the military, he became employed with the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program, and worked with the children of other military families while he and his wife were stationed in Izmir, Turkey.  It was there that he discovered his passion for working with kids.

When he and his family returned to the United States, he continued this journey of mentoring and counseling children. He worked for the Department of Parks and Recreation in Lancaster, CA and coached baseball until moving back to Virginia.  His dedication led to him to pursue different careers working with the youth in Virginia.  He was a youth counselor for the City of Suffolk Department of Parks and Recreation, and was a coach for his sons’ basketball team, and an assistant coach for their football team.  Norman went on to further his education and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology/Psychology from Old Dominion University in May 2004.  He became a counselor at the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center and was last employed as a youth counselor for the City of Virginia Beach.  Norman was loved, respected and admired by many.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alma E. and Walter R. Dailey, Jr., and his paternal grandparents, William and Hattie Odell Warren.  Norman leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Darlene Warren of Suffolk, VA; his sons, Robert T. Holloway of Atlanta, GA, Norman L. Warren III of Norfolk, VA, Adrian A. Warren, Sr. and Jalen S. Warren, Sr. of Suffolk, VA; his mother, Marie D.
