Lisa Deanna Overton
Lisa Deanna Overton departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA.
Lisa was born to the late Frank and Orvilla Overton on May 1, 1963 in Mount Vernon, New York. Her parents raised her in a loving home alongside her brother Wallace, sister Lori, and cousin Derrick.
Lisa graduated from Mount Vernon High School and went on to Norfolk State University
where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Lisa accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York. There, she served in the youth choir and on the usher board. At the time of her death Lisa was a longtime member of Second Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA.
Lisa worked at QVC for many years before going on to work at Cox Communications where she was employed until her death.
Lisa enjoyed cooking, traveling, and she was a regular bingo player, an activity she especially enjoyed sharing with her mother. Lisa also loved music. She would groove to old school R&B, often singing to her friends and continued to jam even while lying in her hospital bed.
Lisa was blessed with a big heart and a bright smile that could light up any room. People loved her straight to the point way of speaking and she could make you love her even while whipping you in a game of spades.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father Frank, mother Orvilla, and brother Wallace Overton.
Lisa leaves to cherish her memory her only sister Lori Overton of Mount Vernon, NY, cousin/brother Derrick Bell of Chesapeake, VA; uncles Thomas Overton of Queens, NY, Charles (Patricia) Overton of New Hope, NC, Marvin (Perlinda) Overton of Savannah, GA, (Viola Overton of Rochester, NY, Gurline Overton of Flint, MI and Willie Mae Overton of Flint, MI); aunts Rosetta, Roberta, and Sandra Overton all of New Hope, NC. Longtime friends Kelly Champion of Newburgh, NY & Janet Cherry of Suffolk, VA. A host of cousins, friends, and coworkers.
