On Sunday, February 11, 2024, an angel of the Lord was sent to escort our precious mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Leathia O. Jones to her heavenly home.

Leathia was born June 23, 1937, to the late James Edward and Eula Jones in Portsmouth, VA.  She was one of 13 children born into this union.

Leathia accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member for 57 years.  She served faithfully on the #1 Ushers Ministry and was in charge of the Kitchen Ministry.

She loved cooking for the homeless and feeding them a healthy meal.  She also loved her game shows, court shows, the ID Channel and working puzzle books.  She dearly loved her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters and brother.

Leathia leaves to cherish her memory: three sons: Charles Orton, Leslie Orton (Carla), and Larry Orton (Karen); two daughters: Aris Cooper and Cynthia Jones (Saraf); four sisters: Bernadette Mizell, Bertha Mitchell (Albert), Gloria Jean Robert and Vera Orton; one brother, Robert H. Edwards; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
