Remembering our beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend, Mentor & the list goes on. James “Big Daddy” Powell was called home on Monday, April 29th. He was born February 24, 1966, to the late Doc Powell and Evelyn Powell-Porter. He attended Norfolk Public Schools, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. He served as an Educator/Mentor for many surrounding public school systems and group homes for the youth. The current being Norfolk Public Schools at Granby High School. James never ever met a stranger. Every room he entered brought laughter, love & light. James had a passion for youth & his love extended to everyone he came in contact with. He will be missed by all. James was preceded in death by his brother, Dock L. Powell, Sr. and one sister, Rita L Powell. He leaves to cherish his memories to four brothers, Barry Powell, Tyrone Powell, Shawn Grimes and Charles Drummond; one sister, Darlene Powell (Doc) (sister-in-law); four children, Trovon D. Powell (Shaunese Lyle), Teresa D. Warren (Paul Warren) Renounte’ A. Jackson & Nasir James; 11 grandchildren, Tyrik J Powell, Paul E Warren, Jr., Peaceful E Warren, Pharoah E. Warren, Kevon M. Linnette, Amir Williams, Jadia De’sha Powell, Jett James Powell, Renounte’ A. Jackson Jr., Josiah Jackson & many bonus grandbabies; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and bonus children who he loved very much. James will be immensely missed and the impact he made on many lives is unmatched!!!!
