Evelyn Delores White was born July 14, 1937, in Suffolk Virginia. She was the oldest child of the late Norman and Marjorie White. Evelyn known fondly as Sister by her family, attended Robertson Elementary School and East Suffolk High School where she graduated in June 1955.
In 1958 Evelyn relocated to New York where she worked in the garment district for the Figure Flattery Company. When the company went bankrupt in 1983, she found another job as a bookkeeper.
After a few years as a bookkeeper, she went back to school to study Early Child Care.
There she earned upon graduation an I.N.C.A. certificate of Merit presented to her from Senator Pedro Espada Jr. of New York.
In 1996 she received from Manhattan Community College an award for the completion of Child Abuse Training and in 1997 she received an award for the successful completion for an Early Child Care Specialist
In May 2000 Evelyn was awarded the certificate of Recognition from Rudy Washington, the Deputy Mayor of New York City for outstanding work that helped people in New York and others, and contributed to people in need.
Evelyn was predeceased in death by her sisters Elsie Mae Parker, Violet Vernell Spruell and her brother Norman McCoy White.
She is survived by her daughter Faith Hardy, Suffolk Virginia, Grandson Ian Boone Sr. (Irene), Suffolk, Virginia, Grand Daughter Latisha, Hardy Texas, Brothers Albert White (Janice), Randall White (Annette), and Reginald White, Suffolk, Virginia and Horace White, Texas. Sisters, Joyce White Johnson, Suffolk, Doris Avent and Carolyn Brown, Queens Village, New York and Marilyn James, Plainfield New Jersey.
Great Grand Children: Thomas Bellamy, TaNiya Bellamy, Jermaine Boone, Ian Boone, Jr., Jamir Boone, and Laila Boone of Suffolk Virginia, and a host of nieces and nephews.
