Catherine Gibbs, 95, was born February 5, 1928 in Norfolk, Virginia. She was a product of the Norfolk Public School system. During that time she met her lifelong spouse, Mr. William Riley Gibbs. They were married for 66 years and raised five children. She was a former member of Antioch Baptist Church. She retired from the Norfolk Public School system after 30 years of service. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and a loyal friend to everyone she knew. Catherine was predeceased by her parents, Salista, Sr. and Virginia Hudgins; one sister, Evelyn Hudgins; two brothers, Salista, Jr. and Gilbert Hudgins. Her Husband of 66 years William Riley Gibbs Sr.; daughter, Patricia Ann Murphy; her oldest son, William Riley Gibbs Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, Terry Vance Gibbs Sr., Carlise Gibbs and Michael Anthony Gibbs (Edith) all of Norfolk, Virginia, 17 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of extended relatives and friends.
