I am so sorry to hear about Zykeara’s passing away. I was her 9th grade math teacher last year at Lake Taylor. We had a good teacher-student relationship from the start. I was tough on my students but they knew that I loved them. She was no different. I often told her that my “the last time I fought a girl was the 3rd grade, and she beat me up…don’t make me have to fight again to get you to do your work!” I switched up the grade every time I told the story and Zykeara was quick to tell me, “Mr. Cook, you said it was the 5th grade last time…” She was moved from my class for a scheduling issue but would often come by and tell me she missed my class and give me a hug! I miss that young lady…my heart ache to think that such a promising young lady is gone from this world…God’s Peace and Comfort for the entire family!
