Zena Vanessa Brown, daughter of the late Deacon Ralph Clifton Brown, Sr. and Frances Vandora Brown was born on March 8, 1961 and departed peacefully on October 13, 2018.
Zena graduated from Neptune Senior High School in 1980. After graduation she joined the Army where she served our country honorably for 6 years, including an overseas tour in Germany. Post her military service, she moved back to Richmond, VA where she attended Kee Business College and received her diploma in Word Processing.
While in Richmond, Zena was employed by the VA Labor Commission before attaining a position at the Building Supply Company where she worked for several years and finally Jani King before relocating to Kentucky where she worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange until she became disabled.
She joined New Hope Baptist Church in Radcliff, KY, where she dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized December 20, 2009 in a dual ceremony alongside her daughter Nigeria. In 2015, Zena relocated back to Norfolk, VA where she spent her remaining time with her son Billy and his family.
She is preceded in death by her Father Ralph Clifton Brown Sr., two brothers Ralph Clifton Brown Jr., Kevin Eugene Brown, and a niece Malika Naomi Williams.
She leaves to mourn her passing: son William Brown III (Dominica) of Norfolk, VA, daughter Nigeria Brown of Louisville, KY; mother Frances Vandora Brown of Charlotte Court House, VA; three brothers, Bishop Robert Hickman (Pauline) of Findlay, Ohio, Earl Jones (Bernice) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Darren L. Brown (Sharon) of Upper Marlboro, MD; sister, Yolanda M. Ingram (Craig) of Rineyville, KY; three grandkids Taniya, Zariah, and Nyla; eleven nieces and nephews, Christopher, Steven, Ameerah, Matthew, Kimberly, John, Brittany, Darrian, Mi’Key, Craig, and Robdeisha. She leaves a host of aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
