Sunset: July 1, 2019

Yvette Denise Mills, better known as “Niecy”, went on to be with the Lord on July 1, 2019. She was surrounded by her family during her peaceful transition following her battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Niecy was born August 17,1960 in Norfolk, VA. She was the daughter of Cledophis Evans and Mary L. Pollard. Niecy attended Deep Creek high school in Chesapeake Va and proudly earned her GED in 2014.

Niecy was an amazing mother who would often go without so her children did not have to. She continued to be that amazing mother in her final moments of life. She was full of positivity throughout her battle with ALS and only complained when her pajamas did not match or Natalie made her late. Cooking dinners for her family, fishing, dancing, and spending time with her 5 grandchildren were a few of the things that made her smile. She was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan despite their ability to secure another championship. Niecy was loved dearly by all she came in contact with.

She is predeceased by her father and step father Cledophis Evans and Jospeh L. Pollard and her grandmother, Mary Mills. She leaves to cherish her memories her mother, Mary L. Pollard. Her sister Chandra Blanding and her brother Antoine Credle. Her children Douglas W. Brown (Stacey), Natalie Y. Shannon (Chester), Darcell Brown, and Derrick Ford (Anita). Five grandchildren Kayla Brown, Emily Shannon, Doug Jr, Jamari Ford and Jaiden Ford. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends along with a very special friend, affectionally known as “Coach”.
