Wilton Sylvester Evans

Wilton Sylvester Evans (Butch to the family) was born on December 27, 1942, in Chester, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia). He is the son of James from Dunn, North Carolina, and Lena of Quick of Salem City, North Carolina.

Wilton graduated from Chester High School, Chester Pennsylvania, and Cheyene State College in 1962/1964. After graduation from Cheyene State, Wilton taught high school science and biology at Yeadon, Pennsylvania High School.

In 1965, Wilton married his high school friend, Evelyn Porter, who accepted a job with IBM Corporation and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1975, Wilton was dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses with the Bedford Heights Congregation in Bedford, Ohio. In 2002, Wilton retired and moved to Suffolk, VA where he actively served as an Elder in the Churchland Congregation until his death.

Wilton was predeceased by four sisters: Mildred Brooks, Beatrice Rhodes, Eunice Cheers, and Lena Washington. Wilton is survived by his wife, Evelyn Porter Evans, and a son; Michael Evans of Oakwood Village, Ohio (Cleveland).
