Willis Bruce Hardy

Mr. Willis Bruce Hardy, son of the late Willis Hardy and Gwendolyn Hardy, was born on November 25, 1950 in Youngstown, OH. Willis married his college sweetheart, Bessie Townes on April 19, 1970. Soon thereafter he joined the United States Army in September 1970 where he served faithfully. They were blessed with a daughter, Michelle from their union. While serving, Willis was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Purple Heart. He honorably fulfilled his time in the Vietnam War. he was hurt while serving and thus was granted an honorable discharge.

Willis received his certificate of Church Membership from Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church on February 5, 1978 under the partnership of the late Rev. James C. Griffin. Willis better known to his friends and family as “Country City”, “WB” or “Lotto Man”, was blessed to partner with his long-time friends to establish several small businesses to the likes such as Wagoner Limousine Company in the early eighties and We Care America. After a lengthy illness, our Heavenly Father closed his eyes preparing him for his homegoing on April 16, 2018.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving and devoted wife, Bessie Hardy; two children, daughter, Michelle Davis (Melvin Jr.) and son, D’Angelo Hardy; one grandchild and favorite caregiver, Deiyauna Mone’t Davis; his dear mother, Gwendolyn Hardy (Father, late Willis Hardy); three siblings, Donald “Bruno” Nabors (Late), Dorothy Jean Ferguson (Leroy), Rev. Angela Cross (Walter); brother-in-law, James Valentine; two sisters-in-law, (Late) Juanita Young (Ernest), Bernice Smith (Late Robert Lee), (Late) mother-in-law, Henrietta Valentine, along with a host of beloved relatives and friends.

    To the man who made me “ work “ for my first car , the man who taught me what the letters on the bottom of a scratch off ticket meant , to the man who always wanted me to roll him when it was time for the quote on quote “ handicapped “ to aboard an airplane or cruise first ( don’t be alarmed y’all , my mans walked just fine , lol ) . . to the man who wanted me to ride with him at three in the morning for seven eleven runs , to the man who gave me a piece of advice EVERY single day even when I was not trying to hear it , to the man who made sure he called me right when I walked in the house before the alarm went off to ask did I make it into the house okay , to the MAN who made sure he was at my graduation when his legs weren’t functioning that day . . to the MAN who could curse me out and make me laugh in one sentence . . to you , Willis B. Hardy ; THE MAN , and the last one standing with the MONEY IN HIS HAND , I say thank you oh so much for loving me unconditionally and treating me like a queen , well you know I am but that’s neither here nor there ! Thank you for providing resources and supplements in my life to educate me and provide life lessons I can pass on to others . Thank you for being an example to people and thank you for making an impact on so many people . It’s SO many people I didn’t know you knew , that have so many stories about you , lol ! I love you popo . I miss you and I am not ready to quite ready to accept this . . But you weren’t too much of a fan of crying so I’ll maintain the strength you’ve instilled in me . . You’ve always said I had your strength and wisdom when it came down to stuff like this . Thank you . Rest up Popo . I’m sure you are at the casino table in Heaven , just save a spot for me . .
