Willie Mae Robinson, 71 earned her heavenly wings, Monday, March 22, 2021 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Frank B. and Willie Katie Saunders Robinson and sister, the late Shelvy M. Robinson.
Willie Mae’s early education began in the Chesapeake Public School System. She was a 1967 graduate of Crestwood High School. She attended Norfolk State University where she was a Social Work major.
Willie Mae began her work career with the Norfolk Public Schools System. She started as a Teacher’s Assistant and throughout the years, worked her way up to become the Office Administrator of Chesterfield Academy. Following her retirement, she continued to work part-time at various schools in the Norfolk Public School System. Her knowledge and work expertise was appreciated by all. She always had a kind word for staff members and especially to the parents that she came in contact with.
Willie Mae was a lifelong and dedicated member of Union United Church of Christ. She was a member of Usher Board #3, the New Horizons Gospel Choir, the Women’s Fellowship Ministry and Skillet Ministry.
Willie Mae had a passion for living her best life. She loved to travel with her daughter and sister. She loved to shop and check out the finest shops and restaurants. She enjoyed watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in New York annually. She was truly loved by her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved daughter, Michelle K. Robinson of Chesapeake Va.; her uncle, John Saunders (Lois) of Maryland; her cousins, James C Robinson, Jr (Marion), Chesapeake; Lynette Robinson Rhodes (Clifford, Sr.) Norfolk; George Saunders, Jr (Cynthia), Norfolk; Edward Saunders, California; Darryl Saunders, Mississippi, adoptive daughter, Katina Reeves and her six God-Grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, Xavier, A’maiyah, Treyvon and Daevon Uzzle; a host of cousins and friends.
