Willie Dee James, Jr., was born to Willie Dee James, Sr., (deceased) and Dorothy James on July 31, 1956, in Portsmouth, Virginia.  He departed this life peacefully on October 13, 2024, at Howard University Hospital.  His educational foundation was laid in Portsmouth, Virginia school system. Willie’s spiritual growth commenced at Fourth Baptist Church with his family.  He resided in the DC/MD/VA region, where he realized his entrepreneurial vision through Superior Painting.  Furthermore, he maintained a part-time role at Somerset House II Condominium in Chevy Chase, Maryland for many years.
Willie demonstrated a lasting commitment to football, supporting the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens.  Landscaping was another interest inherited from his father.  He found joy in nurturing plants, flowers, and appreciating nature.  He enjoyed family time and bonding with loved ones, spending time relaxing and listening to his favorite old school music on WPFW 89.3 FM.
Willie is preceded in death by his father Willie Dee James, Sr., his sisters, Joyce M. James, Diane James-Hicks and his aunt, Sylvia A. Smith.  He leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memory: his loving wife, Mary of 30 years, his mother, Dorothy James; his sisters, Yvonne L. Harris and Andrea F. James; his uncle, Raymond E. Drew (Brenda); his nephews, Robert F. Harris, Jr., and Joshua J. Parker; his nieces, Christen J. Hockaday and Maya N. Hockaday; and a host of special family members and friends.
