William Henry Miller

Sunrise: December 9, 1925

Sunset: February 26, 2019

Deacon William Henry Miller (affectionately known as Bill) went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. He was the ninth child of ten born to the late George and Rosa Miller on December 9, 1925 in Norfolk County, which is now Chesapeake, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Deaconess Brenda Miller. He was predeceased by his two sons: William Miller, Jr. and Melvin Miller; and his seven sisters and two brothers.

He attended Macedonia Baptist Church as a youngster. He later joined First Baptist Church South Hill and has been a member for over 60 years. As a faithful and dedicated servant, he was extensively involved at church including: Assistant Chairman of the Deacon Board, President and Vice President of the Male Chorus, Sunday School Superintendent and a Sunday School teacher. He also painted and assisted in other projects to beautify the old church. Deacon Miller has organized and sung in several groups including The Alternators, the Spiritualettes, and participated in being the opening group for many celebrity musicians and artists that came to Norfolk. He loved the Male Chorus of First Baptist South Hill (The Sons of Thunder) and they loved him as well.

Bill had three childhood aspirations and they were to become a truck driver, a policeman, and a minister. He became a truck driver where he later retired. He also retired from Marine Hydraulics Inc. Bill never became a licensed minister, but he reached the gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone he met. Deacon Miller was a man of wisdom who loved to sing and talk about the goodness of God. He enjoyed doing home improvement projects and reading the Bible.

He leaves to cherish his memories three stepsons- Clinton McNair (Patricia), Martin McNair, and Anthony McNair; nine grandchildren, two Great grandchildren and a host of other relatives, family, and friends.

I would like to express my sympathy and condolences at this time. Also at Isaiah 25:8, it tells us that God will wipe away the tears from all faces and he will swallow up death forever and Rev 21:3,4 tells us that sickness and death will be no more. I hope these words will help you during your loss.
