Wilhemene Cox

Sunrise: September 4, 1952

Sunset: May 19, 2021

On May 19, 2021, our heavenly father called home our beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Wilhemene Cox, to be present with Him.

Wilhemene was born on September 4, 1952, to the late Inez Raby and the late Eugene Samuels. She was educated in the Norfolk Public Schools System. Wilhemene was employed by General Foam Plastics as a line worker for twenty-two years until she retired.

Wilhemene was greatly loved and truly respected by those that came into her presence. She loved attending church, listening to gospel music and watching western movies. She especially loved keeping and loving on the grands and great-grands. As well as bringing them to church whenever she could to get them to know the God she loved to worship and serve.

She had a heart of gold and would help anyone that needed it. She loved to laugh and joke with everyone. Wilhemene served on many committees in church. She was the preparer for communion each month as well as being on Brown Bag Ministry (praying and feeding the homeless) in which she did faithfully and loved.

Wilhemene was preceded in death by her mother, Inez Raby; father, Eugene Samuels; brothers, Eugene Samuels and Charlie Raby. Wilhemene is loved and will be sorely missed, yet remembered by her companion of many years, Melvin Hunter; her three children, Karen Ballance, Sharon Cox, Melvin Cox and brother Curtis Samuels. She will also be missed by her four grandchildren; Kenneth, CleShaun (Rosalyn), Cleontae and Makayla; six great-grandchildren; Kenneth Jr., Keyshawn, Aubrey, Clarissa, Cherish and Caihir; along with her beloved nieces, nephews, and goddaughter. Her best friend of sixty years, Brenda Norman. As well as other relatives and friends, whom she loved dearly.
