Wilhelmina Harris Hart went from labor to reward on Friday, October 18, 2019. She was born December 16, 1947 and was the oldest of five children born to the late Rev. Ralph Harris, Sr. and Wilhelmina Overton Harris. She was predeceased by her sister, Lila B. Harris.
She was a 1966 graduate of Crestwood High School, Chesapeake, VA. Wilhelmina graduated from Hampton Institute in 1970. She received a master’s in Library Science from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Wilhelmina was a Librarian for several colleges, Virginia State University, Petersburg, VA, St. Paul College, Lawrenceville, VA and Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach, VA Campus; and she was also employed as Librarian for City of Portsmouth. Books were her passion and she loved to read. Until her lengthy illness she was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ of Norfolk, VA.
Wilhelmina leaves to cherish her loving memory one sister, Vera Stephens of Norfolk, VA; two brothers, Rev. Ralph Harris, Jr. (Brenda)of Rocky Mount, VA and Thaddeus Harris (Roxanne) of Yeador, PA; three nieces, Tiffaney, Shera and Shannon; three nephews, Antoine, Demond and Devon; four great nieces and two great nephews; two special cousins, The Honorable Alveta V. Green of Norfolk, VA and Mrs. Nadine Clarke of Brooklyn, NY and a host of other relatives and friends.
