Wilhelmenia M. Satterfield “Polly”

Sunrise: August 31, 1945

Sunset: June 16, 2019

Mrs. Wilhelmenia Satterfield, affectionately known to all as “Polly”, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, June 16th after a brief illness. She is the eldest daughter of Deacon William & Deaconess Geneva Malone. She was predeceased by her parents along with two sons; Michael Malone and Mark Bundle and a very special friend of over 50 years Mrs. Sally Oakley.

Polly accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist South Hill under the leadership of Rev. Donald Johnson. She retired from Chesapeake Public School System after 30 years of service as a custodial engineer. She worked at Oscar Smith High School and B. M. Williams Elementary School where the students and teachers loved “Miss Polly”.

Polly was loved by many. Her favorite pass time was sitting on her porch on Transylvania Ave. drinking her diet Pepsi cola and speaking to everyone. People she didn’t even know would walk by and say “Hi Miss Polly” and her response would be “Hello, but who you?” Polly was also gifted with a “Green Thumb” as everyone knew by her beautiful plants.

Polly was truly the pillar of the Malone family. She will truly be missed for we all loved her so, but God loved her more.

She leaves to cherish her memories husband of over 40 years Elbert Satterfield, Sr.; daughter, Joan M. Lynch (Obie); son, Elbert (EJ) Satterfield, Jr. (DeVida); 6 grandchildren, Nakima (Nikki) Lynch, Shontelle Bundle, Shenelle Bundle, Obie (Nieko) Lynch, Kejhon N. Woodard, and Jaquawn N. Woodard all of Chesapeake , VA; five great grandchildren, Nickolas Nixon, Nairi Fuller, Johnathan Leon, Nevaeh Williams, Jeremiah Leon, and Damien Fuller all of Chesapeake, VA; six siblings, Joanne Copeland (Willie) of Hampton, William Malone, Jr., Raphael Malone, Sr. (Alice), Linda Wilson, Pamela Fletcher, Michelle Campbell, all of Chesapeake; 2 special aunts, Deaconess Annie Lee Crudup of Chesapeake, VA and Diane Joyner of Norwalk, Connecticut along with a host of special nieces, nephews that loved her as if she was their mother, cousins and friends, and in-laws who accepted her as another one of their sisters.
