Wilbur Giles

Wilbur Giles made his final journey on Saturday, March 16, 2019, from his earthly home to his heavenly home. He was a resident of Portsmouth, VA, and was born in Portsmouth, on February 5, 1953. He graduated from Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va. After high school, Wilbur joined the United States Marine Corp and he remained in the service for 4 years. He then began working for Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he worked for over 40 years and later retired in 2016. Wilbur also worked numerous part time jobs which included the Scott Center , the Tower Bingo Hall, Ntelos Pavilion and Old Dominion University event staffing, where he was employed for over 15 years. Wilbur greatest joy other than his family, were his grandsons, Christopher and Cameron. He enjoyed his day to day interaction with his two grandsons, whom he adored. He not only enjoyed interacting with his grandsons, he also enjoyed interacting with his nieces, nephews and children in the community.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife Eveleen Giles, step son, Leon Porter, daughter, Chiquita Giles; and one brother Ronnie Giles. Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Dorothy Mills, stepsons, Lamar Porter, and Shelton Porter; three grandchildren; Christopher, Cameron, and Serabian(“Lucy”), two sisters, Brennell Toots Baker (Ronnie), Darlene Redditt (Daryle), and brothers, Bernard Giles, Brendell Mills (TerriAnn) ,Samuel
Mills, Lamont Mills and a host of relatives and friends.

    Wishing this was not true .. God called home his angels and left a pain in our hearts.     i worked with Wilbur ESI…he was a nice man…always had a smile and would always laugh at my dumb jokes and sarcastic commentary. he also put up with my shenanigans at ntelos. i didn’t know her as well. but they were good people who will be missed. RIP
