A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1
Wendell G. “Ninny” Thomas (Blood), 62, of Norfolk, VA passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. He attended Lake Taylor High School in 1975 and went on to become a very hard worker and productive citizen.
The Norfolk Department of Utilities expresses their gratefulness and appreciation to WENDELL THOMAS maintenance worker II for 30 years of valued service to the City of Norfolk, VA. He was honored on the occasion of his retirement on November 1, 2019.
Wendell was a dedicated family man who did spread love wherever he would go. He was loved by many people and showed love to all. Wendell Thomas was the hardest working man we’ve ever known and a support system to the family. He was a guy you could depend on at the end of the day. He was a good person. His occupation ranged from maintenance worker up to supervisor for over 30 years.
Wendell is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 35 years, Carolyn Thomas; his loving children, daughter, Carolyn Thomas and son, Wendell Thomas, III. Also left to cherish his memories, his mother, Dorothy Paris; sisters, Angela McPerson, Cynthia Morring, Tara Harris (Dale); two granddaughters and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
It’s a Celebration of a legend; if you knew the man … He Loved You!
