Waymon McKinley Johnson, Jr.

Mr. Waymon M. Johnson Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 8, 1939, to the late Waymon M.  Johnson Sr. and Florence Perry Johnson.  He was reared by Mrs. Maxine Johnson of Virginia Beach, were he often attended Mount Bethel Baptist Church and later joined the men’s Senior Choir. While attending Mount Bethel Baptist Church he sang on the choir and performed his first solo!

Waymon received his education in the Virginia Beach and South Norfolk public school system.  While attending the public school, his love of sports began to shine. He escalated his love for the game of football, playing the position of Running back and continued his playing while attending Union Kempsville of Virginia Beach.  From there he devotionally followed several the original Norfolk Sports Teams, which included NSU and Virginia Squires. Waymon then developed his true passion for the “Original” Washington Redskins (Commander’s).

Prior to entering into his life health issues, he worked at several position throughout the city of Norfolk and VA Beach.  While working at one of Norfolk’s First Commercial Dairy Company, he was selected to attend a specialize training at the national office in Detroit, Michigan. Upon returning to Norfolk, he was one of the first technicians to operate their newly processing machines. This machine produced exceptional quality products throughout the entire city of Norfolk and its surrounding areas, to include all if not most of the Norfolk Public School systems. Other position he worked at was the Recreational Camp site (MWR) at Fort Story, Virginia, where he served as the onsite facilitator, which provided daily support and routine maintenance of the facility to ensure the readiness of all units, and facilities was properly prepared. His efforts greatly enchanted the quality of life and family wellness for hundreds of sailors, marines, airman and soldiers assigned to the U.S. Army Transportation Marine Terminal command. Although his position was a term position, he was often called upon to back-fill seasonal peak demands!

Waymon, preceded in death by his sisters, Vernice Gilchrist (John) and Florence J. Parker (Tommy)  and Naomi Johnson Chadwick (John) and Daughter; Theresa Johnson.

He leaves to celebrate his life, his Wife; Villa Mae Johnson of Norfolk, Virginia, Sons; Steve A Johnson (Ruby), Waymon III, David and Arthur Johnson, his Daughters; Sandra McCloud, Gwendolyn Johnson. Ten (10) Grandchildren, Twelve (12) Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, extended Family and Friends
