Watt D. Newsome, III

Watt “Sonny” Newsome passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Maryview Medical Center. His mother, Blommer Mae and his dad, Watt D. Newsome, II, predeceased. Sonny was raised in the Berkley area and was very well known in Berkley. He was a graduate of Lake Taylor High School.

“Sonny P”, known by family, worked as a sub-contractor for many years, he was self employed. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was a great spades player, he also loved to sing and dance with his family and friends, whom he loved dearly.

“Sonny” is survived by his daughter, Wattisa Davis; his grandson, Kash Riddick; Wattisa’s loving mother, Lisa Davis;  he is also survived by his sisters, Avery Burnham, Kim Goldman and  Romona Saunders; a brother, Justin Goldman; a special friend, Eucharist Thompson and her children Derrick,  Robert, Tina and Jamal Lundy; special nieces, Tarja and Taneisha Tate, Bridgette and Brittanie Saunders and a host of other nieces and nephews and other family members.

Wattisa (daughter) and Kash (grandson) were his greatest gift to his life and he loved them dearly. He was an amazing father and grandfather.  His gift of life was shared with family and friends.

Watt “Sonny P’ will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Rest In Peace “Sonny P’.

      My Deepest Condolences.
      Jazz is and will always be a brother from Berkeley.
      Sonny, thank you for all of the good times we shared at the Spot Light. You have to be from Berkeley to understand the Spot Light.
      Our High School years were the greatest , you made so many people laugh to tears. Thank you for the memories, your life is blessed and washed in the Blood of Christ.

    I would like to express my deepest and most heart felt condolences to the family for the loss of your love one. I am certain he will be missed greatly. Let not your hearts be troubled. God is with you! We loved Sonny but God loved him best. Rest in peace for “Sonny” has done what we all must be do one day. Remember the good times and may he live forever in your hearts.
