On January 27, 2025, the Lord called one of his sons, Warren T. Burrus, Sr., home to eternal rest. Warren was born on February 22, 1970, to the late Phyllis Burrus and Warren Collins, Sr.
Warren was a man of quiet strength, yet his presence spoke volumes. He was a devoted family man who deeply loved his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa” or “Granddad.”
Warren found fulfillment in his career as a Production Supervisor at NGK Locke, where he was a hardworking and dedicated employee. He was also a passionate sports fan, cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtics. A product of Booker T. Washington High School, Warren shared an unbreakable bond with his favorite girl and soulmate, his wife Shannon. Together, they are affectionately known as 2SHANKS!
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Booker T. and Mildred Burrus; his aunts, Barbara Burrus and Vanessa Robinson; and his uncle, Booker T. Burrus, Jr.
Warren’s legacy lives on through his loving and devoted wife, Shannon Bishop-Burrus (a.k.a. Shank); his daughter, Shankia Whitaker (Demarcus); his son, Warren Burrus, Jr.; and his bonus sons, Lamontrel Bishop and Samari Brown. He also leaves behind three beloved granddaughters, Ahmiyah Mason, Dior Whitaker, and Summer Whitaker; his sister, Waketa Collins; his brothers, A’Ninja Burrus and Warren Collins, Jr.; his aunt, Tonya Ayers (Sammie), a loving mother-in-love, Deloris O’Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Though his physical presence will be missed, Warren’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, forever remembered with profound love.

February 1, 2025 at 8:54 amShank, you will be truly missed! You were my brother, a person I looked up to for a long time! You showed so much strength throughout your life. You fought for your life and to be here for others for a very long time. You and your wife showed up to games and supported me for years and I’ll never ever forget that! You were always a positive person and one that I can truly say I’m proud to have been apart of your life. Rest in paradise and I’ll see you in the other side! 🫡
