Wanda Ann “WAN WAN” Turner, daughter of the late Betty Lou Turner and Lee Herman Barnes was born April 11, 1968 in her Grandmother’s home in Newsoms, VA. She attended public schools in Newsoms and was a graduate of Southampton High School. She then left Newsoms to pursue her career to become a Teacher’s Aide at Norfolk State University. She was a very hard worker and worked most of her years at Norfolk State University and and Portsmouth Public School System until she became ill.

Wanda was a free spirited individual, who enjoyed laughing, telling jokes, stories, and spending time with her children, family and friends. She loved the ground her children walked on. She was a very active grandparent who never missed anything concerning them down to their birth. Wanda loved to cook and will feed everyone. Those who truly knew her, knew the type of women she was; very outgoing, supportive, caring and lovable. She received the name “WAN WAN” from her “J-Dub Family”.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Amber N. Turner and Jerry V. Pork, Jr; her siblings, Gerald L. Turner (Cherrelle Turner Minton) and Shonessa L. Turner (Claris S. Turner and Mont’e R. Turner). A very special cousin, Gail T. Porter (Larry Porter); three grandchildren, Jaiden V. Pork, Avonte L. Turner and Jaliyah N. Pork; three very special friends, Stacy Madison, Katrina Hamilton and LaMarlow Vaughan and a host of cousins, other relatives, family and friends.
