Vivian T. Spence

Vivian Thelma Spence was born September 2, 1932 in Chesapeake, VA (formerly Norfolk County) to the late Edward James Sivels and Viola Smith Sivels. Vivian was a Registered Nurse and worked for Norfolk General Hospital for many years. She was a former member of Gabriel Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and had a position as Secretary.

Vivian was an active member of the Tidewater Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America until her health failed. She was married to the late Colby Spence. They were blessed with a son Colby Spence (Angela) and daughter Michelle Spence. Vivian was predeceased by her sister Catherine S. Cuffee (Booker T.-deceased) and brothers Edward (Minnie) and James (Emma) Sivels and sister, Sarah Grandy (Charles-deceased). Vivian is also survived by her lifetime partner Eddie L. Davis;
special nephew, Bishop Stanley L. Sivels, Sr.; special niece Bonnie Sivels and Vivian Debrah Bank; special son, Allen Charity; daughter she helped raise, Kristy Jennette and Robin Coleman; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
