Virginia Dixon Bobbitt

Sunrise: August 21, 1933

Sunset: July 12, 2021

God Blessed us with Virginia D. Bobbitt on August 21, 1933 of Enfield, North Carolina. The angel of the Lord received her gracefully on July 12, 2021. She was one of seventeen children born to the late Ida and Dave Dixon.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband of almost fifty years and 15 of her siblings.

Virginia was educated in the North Carolina School System. After moving to Virginia from North Carolina, she was employed with Tides Inn Restaurant as a cook and worked there for many years before retiring. All of this was before the Western Freeway came along in Port Norfolk.  Virginia was a deaconess at New First Baptist Taylorsville. She loved children, cooking, cleaning and gardening. Her specialties were barbecue, chicken and dumplings, fried cornbread, fried chicken and sweet potato jacks. Don’t forget the cakes; Mrs. Virginia was a loving, caring and devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, endearing friend and great listener to so many. Virginia also babysat many of children in her home. She will forever be loved and missed by all.

Mrs. Virginia leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Jeanette Hill (John Hill, deceased), Barbara Barner (George Barner); three grandchildren have made a mark in history from her legacy, Mashauna, Jermod and the Honorable Tannisha Bell (Federal Judge in Washington, DC), one surviving sister, Juanita Price (Sterling Price) of Richmond, VA ; six great grandchildren, Whitney Cotton, 1st Lt. (Bradford), Erica, Ashanti, Raven, JaQue, Rosetta, and Jacori; four great great grandchildren.

As the Matriarch of her family, she guided her children in a Christian manner, having them treat others in a compassionate way.

To the Bobbitt and Dixon Family is truly a heartbreak when one loses a loved one. My thoughts and prayers for each of you during this time of bereavement. Keep her kind heart and spirit live in your memories. She loved wrestling back in the day, and I love to hear her laughter. Family and friends “let not your hearts be troubled.” Lean on God’s grace and mercy He will see you through.
