Violet C. Brown

Violet Carolyn Brown affectionately known as “Sister” went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Violet was born on January 20, 1932, to the late Willie Darden Sr. and Lee Darden.  For many years, Violet worked in environmental services at the Manning Convalescent Home up until retirement.  Violet was an amazing cook.  She later decided to go back to work after retirement where she worked in dietary at the Mayfair House.  Violet was very energetic and fashionable.  She loved to have her nails done, a nice shoe with a heel, and a little lip color.  

Violet was a giver, who loved her family.  She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia where she faithfully served in the Senior Choir until her health failed.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents Willie Darden Sr.and Lee Darden; daughter Barbara Brown; and three brothers, Willie Jr., Bob, and James.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories with her sons, Vernon Darden (Janice) and Ronnie Darden (Delcina); two sisters, Mary Joseph (Alfredo) and Phyllis Richardson; one brother, Thomas Darden and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
