On Tuesday, February 11, 2020 Mother Vernedia Arrington was called home to be with the Lord. She was born November 7, 1945 to the late Viola White and John Lindsey. Mother Arrington attended Princess Anne County Public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Afterward she attended Keys Business College.
Mother Arrington worked at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as a Radiology Receptionist for 38 years and retired in 2014. She was a sales and decorator with Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc. for over 20 years. She received many awards for being the TOP saleswoman
quarterly and she was crowned QUEEN of the year for having top sales.
Mother Arrington gave her life to Christ in 1995 and joined Good News COGIC where she wore a many hat. She was the Mother of the Church, an Usher, Church Trustee, Treasure, Head of the Mother’s Board and Bible Study Teacher. She was also acting treasure for the
Mother’s Board of Virginia Beach District. Mother Arrington’s main goal was to be a servant to whoever she could serve. She was a servant for the Lord and was faithful to God’s call on her life. She was like that Energizer Bunny, she just kept going and going until the end doing what ever she could find to do for others. Spreading the word of God
and loving her family was her passion.
Mother Arrington was preceded in death by her daughter, Venita Lacey; son, Johnathan Arrington; her parents, John Lindsey and Viola White; brother, William White and James Lindsey; sisters, Lucille White, Eleanor White, Louise Holton, Barbara Jean White, lizabeth
Hudgins, Bernice Caffee and grandson, Jerrell Rogers. Survived to cherish her legacy are her children, Karen Rogers of Norfolk, VA, Angela Allmond (Gregory) and Stephone White of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Dennis Jr., Maisha, Jermall, Anthony, O’mar, Viniece, Vernedia, Johnathan, Glenita and Reginald; twenty five great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; brother, Johnny White of Norfolk, VA; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; godson, Tracy Holliman; long time friends, Ms. Gladys, Ms. Catherine, Ms. Macey, Ms. Rosetta, Ms. Glenda, Ms. Arnette, Ms. Annie, Ms. Barbara, Mr. Britt, Ms. Celestine, Ms. Elnora, Mr. Lee and a host of God’s Anointed family of many.

Sister Arrington was a true woman of God. She was saved to the bone marrow. She lived a life that was the epitome of “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power unto salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). She loved the Lord and was not bashful about witnessing for Him. She was a woman of prayer and fasting. As one of her co-worker at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in the Radiology Department, she would often say, “I am running with the Lord.” Her co-workers knew these words meant that she was in a season of prayer and fasting. I call her an apostle, prophet, preacher, teacher, and a beautiful woman who continuously rejoiced in her relationship with the Lord. I am praying for your strength as you remember and celebrate her life. I praise the Lord for allowing me to know Sister Vernedia as a co-worker, friend, and sister of the faith. I will truly, truly miss her.
