Velma Lynnette Elliott Drew was born on September 21, 1957 to the late Richard and Clara Elliott. She was the youngest of nine children.
Early schooling was in Norfolk County, VA. In 1976, Velma graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Portsmouth, VA. She had some college education and was a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her greatest accomplishment was her being a “BAB” Born Again Believer! Glory! Hallelujah! Velma accepted the invitation of repentance and received salvation from Jesus Christ, her Great Savior. However, our souls rejoice because she has received total VICTORY.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Drew; parents, Richard and Clara Elliott; brothers, Walter Thomas, Jerry Thomas and Richard Elliott, Jr; sister, Juanita Thomas; two nephews, one niece and one great nephew.
Velma leaves to mourn, sisters, Carole M. Thomas, Joann Thomas, Charlotte Trotter (Alexander) and Susan Sorrell. There are many special, loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who mourn her passing. Yet, they cherish the memories of the precious Christian life she lived. Her most distinguished characteristics were real love, dedication to God, family and friends, giving and purity of the heart. We are only saying “so long for now.” We are going to live holy and serve God. When we meet back up, we won’t ever be separated again.
We Love You Always!!
