“The Steps of a Good Man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighted in his way.” Psalm 37:23

Vaughan Alfred Hunt, fondly known as “Warren” passed away in Portsmouth, Virginia on March 12, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was a native of Norfolk County, Virginia in a small community known as Dawson Town. He was the son of the late Henry Hunt and Earline Ferebee Hunt. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Harriet Harper, brothers Kevin, Charles, and Henry, and sister Sharon.

Vaughan graduated from Great Bridge High School and worked various jobs until 1973 when he began his career at Perdue formerly known as Cargill. He continued his career at Perdue until he retired in 2020. He also met the love of his life Jetta Demby in 1973 and they later married in 1977 and shared 51 years. Vaughan and Jetta together formed a blended family of four beautiful daughters, Dominique, Tanya, Delvonda, and Jacqulynn.

Vaughan knew the Lord at an early age and always stood fast and pressed forward in faith, having a perfect brightness of hope. His life was full of family and friends. Vaughan loved working in his yard planting flowers, plants, and vegetables. He loved landscaping and grilling, and he was famous for cooking crabs for everyone, especially the grandchildren whom he adored. His favorite pastime was not just cooking on the grill but also tinkering with his truck or old car while listening to music. He had a business Hunt Home Improvement where he and his brothers spent a lot of time roofing and landscaping. Vaughn also enjoyed sitting in his recliner, talking with family and friends, watching westerns all day and being in the garage. He was a prankster and always made everyone laugh.

To cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife Jetta D. Hunt of Portsmouth, VA, and four daughters, Delvonda Pendleton (Ezeyah) Newport News, VA, Jacqulynn Johnson (Raeqwon) Chesapeake, VA, Dominique Harris, Carrollton, VA, Tanya Harris-Nash, Portsmouth, VA. A brother in-law is more than just family, he’s a son, brother, husband, father, cousin, friend, confidante, and a part of you and me. When he’s gone, the void he leaves behind is one that can never be truly defined. But though we grieve, and our hearts may break, we’ll hold on tight to the memories we’ll make. For in his life, he touched so many hearts and left a legacy. Like a brother-in-law that becomes family, YOUR love and care extended beyond what we could see. As we bid farewell, we know, that in our hearts, your spirit will forever glow a light that shines so bright and true. It will guide us through the darkness to the new. So, rest in peace Warren, and know that your memory will never fade. For in our hearts, you’ll always be a part of us, eternally. ~TDH~
