Valerie Nadine (Glover) Santiful was born on November 13, 1961, in Oxford, North Carolina to Adlene Royster Glover and the late Clayton Glover. Valerie loved the Lord and at an early age, she joined New Grassy Missionary Creek Baptist Church in Oxford, NC. Valerie graduated from J.F. Webb High School in 1979. She later attended Elon College and Tidewater Community College, receiving an associate degree in liberal arts. Valerie entered eternal rest on February 20, 2024, with complications from leukemia.
Valerie joined the United States Navy in October 1982. Her duty stations included: Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico; Naval Station New London Groton, Connecticut; Naval Station Rota, Spain; Naval Education Support Center Atlantic, Norfolk; USS YELLOWSTONE (AD-40), Fleet Composite Squadron SIX, Naval Air Station, Norfolk; Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Naval Station, Norfolk. Her personal awards included the Navy Achievement Medal and Good Conduct Medal (3 Awards). Valerie retired from the U. S. Navy as a Quartermaster Second Class in October 1997 with 15 years of honorable and faithful service. After retirement, Valerie opened an in-home daycare and continued her passions of cooking, assisting with church activities, and most importantly, spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Glover and her brother, Michael Glover.
Valerie leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband of 23 years, Jimmie Santiful; mother, Adlene Glover; brothers: Clayton Glover, and Emmanuel Glover (Courtney); sister-in-law, Pamela; four children: Natasha, Eric, Darius, and Marquise. Lastly, her grandchildren: Paris, Brenton, and Summer, and a host of other loving relatives, and friends.
