A beacon of unwavering friendship and kindness, Ms. Valecia Shavelle Avery has left an undeniable mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, God called his Angel home to Heaven. Valecia was born on July 17, 1969, in Chesapeake, Virginia to predeceased parents, Chalmas and Mary Avery. She also is preceded in death by her daughter, Latoya with whom she is now reunited with.
Valecia was educated in the Portsmouth Public School system and never ventured far from the city that she loved. She loved her family unconditionally and she raised her children and grandchildren with so much love and compassion as she was their biggest supporter.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons; Corey Avery, Jervonte Avery, and Trevon Avery; two daughters, Alecia Avery, and Takiera Avery (all of Portsmouth, VA). Two sisters, Carmen Avery (Virginia Beach, VA) and Tonja White; and brother, Christopher Avery (Both of Portsmouth, VA); eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Valecia also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
