Ueston “Brother” Lewis, Jr., 65, of Portsmouth VA, passed away on November 22, 2023. Born on December 10, 1957, to Ueston and Audrey Lewis, he was a proud Portsmouth native, member of New St. Thomas Baptist Church and alumnus of IC Norcom High School.
Ueston lived a vibrant life filled with passion for hunting, fishing, and classic cars. He embraced entrepreneurship through various ventures including a pallet, transporting, and lawn service business, along with a mechanic shop. His dedicated career at Newport News Shipbuilding as a union member, rigger, and machinist culminated in a well-deserved retirement.
Ueston’s adventurous spirit and profound love for the outdoors remained unwavering throughout his life. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He relished moments at family reunions and fish fries, welcoming relatives into his home, and imparting the treasured traditions of hunting and appreciation for nature to his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Emmalyn Carr, and son Kenneth Daughtry. Ueston leaves behind a cherished legacy within his children: Sonya Lewis, Ueston Terrell Lewis (Deonna Lindsay-Lewis), David Lewis, and Anthony Lewis; grandchildren: Treasure Merritt, Samar Harris, Erial Lewis, David Lewis Jr., Layla Lewis, Gemia Lewis, Julius Lewis, Gabrielle Lewis, Jocelyn Lewis, and Jaxon Lewis; siblings: Merlin Lewis (Carol Lewis), Paul Lewis, Anthony Lewis (Amanda Lewis), Virginia Lewis, and Tonya Lewis; a godson, James Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of lifelong friends.
Ueston “Brother” Lewis will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
