On the evening of April 9, 2020, at 9:55pm, God reached down and took our beloved sister and aunt by the hand and led her home. Toni Diane Easter, 64 years of age, was born on June 28, 1955, to the late John and Josephine Easter.
Toni accepted Christ early in her life and was a faithful member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth. It was this church where she grew to love the Lord and learned to serve him. Toni was a dedicated member of the usher board, church choir and loyal Sunday school member.
Toni expressed her interest in working and having her own apartment so her family allowed her to register in the City of Portsmouth Adult Disability Program (Portco) where she was excited about working for various businesses. And through the same program, she was able to move into a group home that trained adults with disabilities to live independently.
Toni loved shopping, dining out and getting her hair done. Most importantly, Toni had a deep love for her family, and cherished the time they would spend together talking, joking, laughing and enjoying family dinners together. In addition, Toni also had an endearing affection for everyone in her group home of Emerson Place and the CareGroup.
Toni is survived by her brother, George (Pam) Easter, and her sisters, Claudia Smith, Denice Blackwell, G. Rena (Chris) Stringfield, and Shirley Watkins. Toni will also be missed by her niece and nephews, Gwen (John) Haynes, Troy (Jannat) Easter, Michael (Michelle Boone) Blackwell, Brian (Nicolle McEachin) Easter, Dominic (Fedleine Jerome) Easter and Devin (JaNee’ Hill) Stringfield along with a host of great- nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors.
