Thurmese LaWanda Dandridge of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was born August 10, 1976 in Memphis, TN, to Thurman and Shirley Ann Dandridge. She was employed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth,Virginia as Shop 11 Work Leader. She graduated from Central High School, Memphis, Tennessee in 1994 and attended Jackson State University, Jackson, Mississippi. She graduated from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprentice class in 2017.
Thurmese spiritual life began at an early age, baptized at Mallory Height Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee by Rev. William Mayes, later became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Memphis, Tennessee, pastored by Rev. Dr. Lavon Dandridge. Moved to Virginia in August 1996, later join Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Norfolk, Virginia, pastored by Rev., Dr. William L. Davis, Jr.
Tuesday, April 12, 2022, Thurmese departed this life suddenly at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Chesapeake, Virginia. Thurmese presence will be missed by her son, Thomas Lamont Dandridge of Suffolk, Virginia. Her father and mother Thurman and Shirley Dandridge, Virginia Beach, Virginia, a brother and his wife Rev. Kamau Kenyatta (Chelita), Knoxville, Tennessee, her sister Valerie J. Dandridge, Virginia Beach, Virginia, two nephews Davion Dandridge, Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jabaria Kenyatta, Knoxville, Tennessee, two nieces Whitney Littlejohn and Kamaria Kenyatta, Knoxville, Tennessee, 4 aunts, 7 uncles, cousins and friends. Thurmese was preceded in death by her grandparents Richard and Annie Dandridge and Joe Darkies Smith, an Aunt Carolyn Barnes, two Uncles O’Neal and Richard Dandridge, Jr.
