Elder Thomas Woodhouse

Elder Thomas Reginald Woodhouse departed this life on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.  He was born on August 17, 1930 to the late Nettie and John Thomas Woodhouse.  He was raised in the Campostella Section of Norfolk, Virginia.  He received his early education in the Norfolk Public School system.
Elder Thomas Woodhouse served in the United States Navy for 21 years where he received an Honorable Discharge upon his retirement.  He was later employed as a welder at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA where he retired with 23 years of dedicated service.  He then worked at Metro Machine for four (4) years.
Elder Woodhouse accepted the Lord in his life and became a faithful, member of the Philippians Church of Christ Holy Disciples and a dedicated worker in the Chesapeake community.  He served as a member of the Ministerial Staff, the Men’s Board, and Superintendent of the Sunday School, Men’s Day Chairman, Sunday School Teacher and Van Driver.  Elder Woodhouse was a lifetime member of the Chesapeake Branch of the NAACP where he served as Vice President to Mr. March Cromuel.
Elder Woodhouse loved to sing.  He would help anybody that needed help.  He was a very humble man.  He could fix anything.  Elder Woodhouse loved his family and was never too busy to hearken to their call.  His awesome legacy of love, devotion and service will never be forgotten.
Elder Woodhouse was preceded in death by his parents, Nettie and John Thomas Woodhouse, two sisters, Geraldine W. Carr and Julia W. Hughes and one brother, Richard Woodhouse.
Elder Woodhouse leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 69 years, Reverend Dr. Mary L. Woodhouse, three sons; Reverend Dr. Reginald C. Woodhouse (Sheila), Elder Thomas Q. Woodhouse (Donna), Mr. Freddie Lane, three daughters; Missionary Mary Washington, Evangelist Gwendolyn Warren and Evangelist Deborah Peebles (Deacon Ronald), one brother, Trustee Shelton Williams (Alva), 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a host of god children, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and a special daughter, Elder Anissa Bishop.
