Thomas Shivers (aka) Tom-Tic, 74 passed away on July 24, 2021 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Thomas was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Joseph and Eva Shivers. Tom-Tic grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia where he met his beautiful wife of 51 years, Sarah. Shortly after marriage he started working in construction until he was gainfully employed with Chesapeake Public School System where he retired as a Head Custodian.
Tom-Tic was well known for having a heart and passion for people, food, cooking, and grilling. He loved people and more than anything he loved to feed people. On Saturdays you could find Tom-Tic in someone’s backyard or at a nearby park grilling or roasting a pig. That was his favorite thing to do besides popping a cold beer. On Sundays, he would cook a big dinner for all his family, friends, and even strangers to enjoy. Tom-Tic loved to see people eat his food and always supplied togo trays so everyone could take a plate with them. He would literally give away his last. He was a well known giver.
We want him to be remembered for his big heart, loud mouth, care free attitude, and his love for people and family…But most importantly, remember Tom-Tic for what he loved to do which was roasting a pig or grilling with a beer in his hand.
Tom-Tic was predeceased by his youngest son, Brian K. Shivers.
Left to cherish his memory is his lovely wife, Sarah Shivers; oldest son, Kelvin Jones (Linda); daughter, Natasha Whidbee (Calvin); one beloved brother, Mills Shivers; one sister, Lucille Etheridge; 14 grandchildren and 9 precious great grandchildren, along with countless extended family and friends.
