Thomas P Day took his final rest March 23, 2021. His journey began October 24, 1967 when he was born to Mary Hines and the late Johnnie Day. He was formally educated in the Portsmouth public school system and had an interesting career path that included working at the casinos in Atlantic City, barbering, car salesman, and truck driving (among other endeavors).
Thomas is survived by his mother Mary Hines, six children (Phillip Wilson (Jasmine), Eboni Lewis, Kelli Day, Kyra Day, Tomaz Hall, and Thomas Day Jr), six sisters (Marcia Allen, Dorris Copland, Ezekia Afari (Vickie Strickland), Theresa Ann Childs, Pamela Young, and Nannette Strickland), two brothers (Johnnie Tyrone Day (Barbara), and David Strickland). He was proceeded in death by his father Johnnie Day, brother Derrick Day, and his sister Phyllis Porter. Along with a host of other family and friends, Thomas leaves to mourn a nephew with whom he shared a special bond Jihad Fontanilla (Chenee), grandchildren Zorah Wilson, and Terrance “Moodie Doo” Kyle Jr, and his lifelong friend who became family Stacy Williams to cherish his memory. While he may no longer be present physically, his sense of humor, and the lasting impressions he left with anyone he encountered will always be fondly remembered.

He was a very good friend to me and my children. His humor and the fact that he made sure my boys had hair cuts. I’m so very sad to see this. You all have my deepest and most sincere condolences. I’m so hurt by this. My heart is broken for you all as well. Rest easy my dear and good friend. Jesus Jesus Jesus
